To understand, a phenomenological approach, one of the qualitative research methods, was used and their experiences were described in their own words and by their own way of expression. To learn how the person-centered art therapy gave middle-aged women the experiences and meaning, the data collected were analyzed according to the Giorgi method. From the experiences obtained after the middle-aged women received the person-centered art therapy treatment, twenty low-level components related to self-insight were drawn first and then, nine high-level components were drawn based on their common responses and statements, from which three categories were derived. The nine high-level components were: became aware of my feeling and emotion; came to see myself for who I am; came to accept my childhood; came to see my family members for who they are; came to see others for who they are; came to see my mother for who she is; realized how I have been changed; came to know about my desire; and came to love myself and practiced self-love. The three categories were: taking care of myself; taking care of others; and self-understanding. Lastly, significance and limitations of this study were proposed.
